Finally out of the shop for a burnt Distributor, its nice to be out of the Crown vic and back in the Mustang. Despite being a four cylinder LX, it has shown to have a fair amount of power... Yes 88HP is enough power.
Tomorrow I’m picking up a Rear Swaybar from a local 87 GT that’s being picked apart and hopefully I can get it all installed by the end of the day. My Roomate and I are planning to drive up to DC next weekend in our individual Fox bodies so I’m looking forwards to that.
The Crown vic may end up being sold in a few months, the Mustang is a much better daily and I can afford to drive it more.

In ‘91 my dad gave me my first car - his ‘85 LX notchback - 2.3/Auto w/ 55k on the clock.
I remember going with my dad to Monahan Ford in Queens to buy it - it was $9600 iirc. His was black w/ the porno red interior.
The first night out, the motor took a shit. I wasn’t driving crazy or anything. He’s just had the head rebuilt for some reason. $1,000 for his friend (the mechanic that rebuilt the head) to swap in a junkyard motor that had 44k miles on it. I had to sell my ‘85 Honda Elite 80 to cover my half of the repair.
I ended up putting on some cheap black and chrome wheels - stock size tires up front, and 245/60/14 tires out back. The suspension rubbed in back when I hit a bump, because I knew nothing about sizing tires, so I put some of those spring spacers in the rear to keep it from rubbing. And anytime I was on the cruise strip, guys with 5.0s would try to race me, and I would laugh because I knew I only had 88hp.
The next year, when that junkyard motor hit 55k miles, it took a shit. I sold the car for $700. I wish I had known about swapping in a 5.0, I would’ve tried to do that.

Man, that thing tales me back. My 2nd car. My sister gave me hers after I blew up the Cutlass Ciera after 3 months. I drove that 4 banger like it was a goddamn Ferrari. Rubber wheel covers and all. It ended up going through 7 rows of fence, a pond, a horse, and face first into a telephone pole at 70mph. RIP.

I know how you feel, you think mustang and this particular model doesn't really uphold the name at first glance. It grows on you.

Funny, I bought mine for $700. Mine I believe is a survivor and the only reason it’s so cheap is because there is a medium sized dent on the other side of the car that I don’t show off as proudly.
I couldn’t imagine the 2.3 with fords... Wonderful... Automatics...
Manual is the way to go with this engine.

I mean it in the best way possible! We all have a relatively similar prototype of “Mustang” in our heads but I love that yours is so far from that prototype—yet is 100% a Mustang. I love the notchback, sunken headlamps, and unassuming color.

Are you still running the smaller sway bar up front or moving to a GT one?

Funny story, I’m running the smaller swaybar up front and a rear swaybar from a 87 5.0 that I got from a local parts car.
